Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Subsequent Local Workforce Development Area Designation

Purpose
Notice is hereby given that the Trident Workforce Development Board (TWDB), in partnership with the Chief Elected Officials of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties, is soliciting public feedback regarding its petition to the State of South Carolina for Subsequent Local Workforce Development Area (LWDA) Designation.
Under Public Law 113-128 (the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act), local workforce areas must periodically apply for recertification to continue receiving federal funds, administering adult and dislocated worker training programs, and operating local SC Works Trident centers. Subsequent designation ensures the continuation of coordinated workforce services across the tri-county region.

The requested designation applies to the existing Trident Workforce Development Area, which includes:

The Subsequent Designation Petition and supporting board structure documentation are available for public review online at the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments (BCDCOG) website or via the SC Works Trident Portal.

How to Submit Comments
The TWDB welcomes feedback from businesses, labor organizations, educational institutions, community partners, and members of the public.
