BCDCOG is proud to recognize one of CARTA’s outstanding Transdev drivers, Roger Pinckney, who continues to prove his unwavering dedication to his passengers and their safety.
Not only does Mr. Pinckney receive regular compliments from his riders, but in 2019, he surpassed the 3 million mile mark for safe driving, a remarkable feat celebrating his accident-free 36 years as a transit driver.
But Mr. Pinckney’s commitment to the safety of his passengers was perhaps best displayed in October of 2021 when faced with a medical event on-board…
While idling at a red light, Mr. Pinckney noticed an unresponsive passenger who appeared to be experiencing a seizure. After quickly pulling over to a safe location, he called for EMS and flagged down a nearby police officer for immediate assistance. The passenger was transported for medical care and later credited Mr. Pinckney with saving his life.
Mr. Pickney, pictured middle, was recently honored for his heroic actions by the Transportation Association of South Carolina.
“There’s no question that the transit-riding community is fortunate to have thoughtful drivers like Mr. Pinckney who go above and beyond to provide a safe experience for their passengers,” said CARTA Board Chairman Mike Seekings. “We’re proud to have him at the wheel, and hope you’ll join us in congratulating him on these remarkable achievements.”
